Answering the question of why mortgagees appear on any structure payments issued to policyholders on insurance claims in Michigan. Most homeowner and buisness structure policies protect the mortgagee in what is known as the mortgage clause. The mortgagee also includes trustee or loss payee. If the mortgagee is named in the policy, then any the mortgagees interest would be protected and their name would appear on any instruments of payment by the insurance company. There is also language written in most policies that will pay mortgagee’s an interest even when a claim is denied. I would advise any policyholder to read the mortgage clause section of their policy verify those specific conditions and terms.

The City of Whitmore Lake has done a great job of cleaning up the hundreds of trees that damaged the area after last weeks wind storms. Michigan seems to have experienced a lot more severe storms this year than in recent years. Dundee had a tornado and there were high winds and lots of damage reported in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Monroe and even Grand Rapids. We hope that this will be the last of the strong storms this summer.

The damage created by the tornado in Dundee this past week was unimaginable . We spent several days consulting with city officials and tornado victims on how to file proper claims. Several homeowners requested claim help. Our company is doing as much as we can for all the victims involved. I will update more on this subject on future postings.

Personal adjusters are better known as public adjusters. Either name still means someone that works for you. I have clients that only refer to me as a personal adjuster. They seem to like the term and I don’t mind. The John Davis family in Grand Rapids, would like to extend a thank you to all the help that their community gave during the aftermath of their house fire in January of 2010. John had no insurance on his home and asked me to thank his neighbors and our office, through this blog, for all of the help and donations to his family. John would not call me a public adjuster. He wanted to only think of me as a personal adjuster. John, my staff and I wish you nothing but the best.
